Volunteer Opportunities

Ministry to the Homebound/Sick of the Parish - Visit and take Communion to the sick/homebound on a regular basis, one to two times a month. Training provided.  Help elderly with rides to church, grocery shopping, etc..

Communion Minister to the Hospital - Take Communion to parishioners in the hospital some Sunday mornings. Rotation scheduling. Training provided.

Bay Medical Care Facility - Assist at the Care Facility on Hampton Road in various ways; taking Communion to bedridden residents on Saturday mornings (takes about 1 hour) for one month during the year. Training provided. Assist with bringing some residents to chapel on Saturday mornings for Mass/Communion services, or by visiting a nursing home resident on a regular basis.

Grief Ministry - Call or visit someone who has lost a loved one. Receive training to help facilitate a grief recovery group (7 sessions/once a year). Assist with hospitality when our parish hosts the grief sessions.

Divorce Ministry - Receive training to help facilitate divorce ministry with others from Bay City parishes.

Welcoming New Parishioners - Welcome a new parishioner with a phone call /and or visit, possibly bake a homemade treat.

Food of Faith - As a group, assist with preparation and serving of a hot meal for the less fortunate at a local church. Currently our parish participates four times a year.

Prayer Line - Be a part of a prayer chain by calling another person and by praying for special prayer requests.

Cradle of Love - Outreach project involves collecting baby items for local agencies.  Assist in writing tags and delivering gifts to agency.  Usually held in February.

Juvenile Home - Take collected items to the home, bake birthday cakes, deliver pizza and pop on New Year’s Eve, etc..

Hospitality  - The third weekend of the month, hospitality is provided after all Masses as a time for parishioners to socialize and meet new members. Coffee, punch and cookies are served. Hospitality also is provided for special parish events. Assist with set-up and serving at an occasional Mass and/or provide 4 dozen cookies as needed.

Funeral Luncheon - Assist with hospitality in church (cookies, coffee and punch) before the Funeral Mass. Assist with calling parishioners to bring a dish for the funeral luncheon, or helping in the kitchen as a funeral luncheon worker and occasionally work with others on a team

Harvest Tree - Outreach project held in October for an adopted, less fortunate parish.  Assist with writing tags, sorting gifts, etc.

Sharing Tree - Outreach project helping the less fortunate in our local community for the Christmas season.  Assist with writing tags, sorting gifts, etc.

Open Door - Parishioners and friends meet every Monday morning in the Gathering Room at church. They come and play cards, sometimes have a potluck or take a trip. At times special guests are invited to give a presentation or do entertainment. All are welcome.

Blood Pressure Clinic - RN to help some Monday mornings

Thanksgiving Dinners to Homebound - Help distribute a prepared meal to one or two homebound parishioners on Thanksgiving around 11:30 a.m.

Christmas/Easter Plants to the Homebound - Help distribute plants.

Parish Nurse Program - In the planning stages.
